Commmmmeeeee on! World cup fever! Sorry were playing catch up again. At this point we didn't know argentina were going to break the english hearts and tuchel was going to completely shag it. In high spirits we descended on the market town of Luton. Luton, home to Stacey Dooley, Nadiya from bake off, Jamal Edwards, Monty Panesar, Tommy Robinson and Charles Bronson - what a melting pot.
We began our crusade in The Wheelwright Arms, a small walk from the station. What a belter, Luton FC through and through, iconic interior, garden and adjoining garage, where the owner showed off their MG (someones doing alright aint they!).
One can only imagine a match day, full to the brim of every Lutonion under the sun. A good crowd of locals occupied two tables inside and talked to each other across the single room interior. Jamie bought the "They Played for David Pleat at Luton Town Vol 1" book for, I think it was £4. On the look out for Vol 2 if anyone can source.
We perched in the garden, took in the mise en scene and heeded the warnings on knife carrying.
Cracking boozer and one we recommend if you're in town. Onwards we jogged to the next pub, soaking in the fantastic weather and sights of Luton.
Please enjoy Luton lad Mick Abrahams, lead guitarist of Jethro Tull and founder of Blodwyn Pig, as you peruse the pictures.
