The Manor Arms

Next up, The Manor Arms on East India Road. Really fantastic place, landlord pulls no punches but warmed to us well keeping everything ticking over in his ACDC hoodie. You may have to ring the bell or knock on the garden fence to get in, but once inside you’re looked after. Pies for £3 apparently, though this may have been a hangover from the diabolical substantial meal nonsense, as no food was on yesterday. Canary Wharfs dirty fingers pertruding over the garden wall acts as a reminder of the outside world though whilst in Bum Daddys, with Annie Lennox playing on the jukebox all the worlds problems disappeared. One hell of a place and I’m certain we’ll be back to enjoy some live music inside.

Final venue was the Manor Arms or Bum Daddies as its colloquial known on East India Dock Road. Our second visit here, the first just post covid, where we had to knock to get in and everyone had to sit in the garden. Not this time, though there were a lot fewer patrons last night. Cash only but we managed to scrape together £40 which saw pints and a double round of drambuie, tequila rose and firecracker shots to end the night.

We filled the jukebox with bangers and were complimented by the two gents at the bar for our 80s choices.

Unfortunately the landlord was wrapping it up and refuted our requests for one more drink. So a relatively sensible but very hospitable sessions drew to a close 🍻. Thanks Poplar, you’re alright.
