Good day and welcome back to Pub Sessions. This month were in Poplar where poverty and prosperity clash - so lets see what establishments they have to offer.
We begin at the Hope and Anchor, the first time we visited here it was still shut post covid but this time we were in luck. They’d painted over the old sign and it was now quite understated and though it may seem closed, worth trying the door if you are passing.
3 guys sat outside sinking drinks in the sun and a handful around the bar inside. One punter who was doing shots with his girlfriend recieved a scam call whilst we were there to the amusement of the crowd “I’ll tell you that, if you can give me my mother’s address!” They settled on him calling O2 himself to sort it out.
Pints are still under a £5 here and the Stella was flowing. Irish music playing softly in the background and I believe some horse racing on a TV that had seen better days. This is polar opposites to the Greenwich Pensioner which sits on the otherside of the same block but it had bags of character and characters.
Onwards we went.
