With great sadness Callaghans was shut when we arrived at the east side of Chrisp Street Market. We thought it must have shut down as it was also closed the last time we attempted to visit, circa 2021. Fortunately, we were informed at the next pub that it just shuts at 7pm (bonkers).
We crossed the market which was exceptionally clean and dived through the metal shuttered doors into, The Festival Inn. Great name.
Landlady explained the Callaghans situation and a familiar couple who we’d met at the George IV pub had also popped in. They advised us to go to Canary Wharf next but we didn’t fancy a pint in a new build.
We settled into this spacious pub and with our second round the landlady threw in a tuppaware of Frisps on the house. Oh what a place and before we knew she was bringing out hors d'oeuvres in the shape of freshly cooked salmon, cream cheese and crackers. We were onto a winner.
As the sun was going down we thought we better head to the final pub though it was difficult to say goodbye. We had a quick round of arm wrestles and then bid them farewell, thanking them for their hospitality.
Please try and go down here, not only are the drinks great, the building and interior are very pleasing on the eyes and the people are really really lovely.
