And we’re off, The Tooke Arms is what we’re about. Cash only, makeshift scaffold awning for the outdoor drinking and friendly salt of the earth barmaid. Perfect place to take in the sights and sounds of the Isle of Dogs, from a woman berating her children to a young lad riding a scooter in his dressing gown. What a place, unfortunately we could not enjoy the inside though I’m sure we will be back after May 17th to experience it.
Lot of history with this boozer, originally built a few yards south and rebuilt in the 60s with a redesign of the area and building of the tower block next door. Named after an old reverant, whose family owned the land, William Tooke. Great write up on islandhistory.wordpress.com blog for those interested.
Was lovely to be here and enjoy a pint whilst watching the world go by around us.
