Sessions is on the road again, this time in the home counties but can you guess where? A thriving market town, home to the largest parish church in Hertfordshire and the iconic lavender fields. Of course, I hear ye yell, it's Hitchin.
Jak's Dad and Kiran had joined us for the affair and although Jamie had broken his ankle, he still hobbled his way to this little tinpot town to enjoy sessions with the boys.
First up was The Anchor, which had just been refurbished and its opening coincided with a new Sainsburys of which they share a car park. Now let me tell you, what a place, fully stocked, accessible and great atmosphere. The Anchor weren't bad either ha ha ha ha ha ha. No seriously the Sainsburys was stunning. We sat in the garden which overlooked ths Sainsburys and Herring explained how the convenience store had revitalised a forgotten area of Hitchin. Looking at local news articles, residents had branded the Sainsburys "unfeasible and ridiculous" though on this sunny Thursday, it looked pretty fantastic.
The Anchor refurb, whilst overshadowed by the wonderous orange signed fantasy, was alright. A generic home counties greene king offering, with fresh dart boards and pints of cruzcampo which went down nicely as we talked over our summer plans. On to the next.
