Bonanza. The Gladstone was open, first attempted in Oct 2018 to be met with locked doors, this time we were in luck. No sign to alert you to its presence other than the Saloon Bar and Public Bar window etchings above the doors. Two mobility scooters parked in the front garden which we later learned were there to celebrate a 60th birthday.
The bar is centred with a very open plan with no wooden beams of storage above. Darts and Pool available and we opted for some killer, they had enough pool cues to have one each. Did not see a jukebox but the music came from somewhere and was perfectly curated.
We bought the birthday girl a double and asked her to choose who was the oldest member of pub sessions in attendance to do a punishment shot. She choose Herring who is actually the youngest. Stitch up.
We stayed for multiple drinks served by a well together Irish woman behind the bar. This is seriously special so get yourself down there and give them some of your well earned money. We will certainly be back. 💙
#68 of 408 all-time · #5 of 43 in 2025. The black tick on each bar is the all-time average.

Bronze 2025

Bronze for 2025, the well deserved, Gladstone on King and Queen Street off East Street Market, Walworth. The owner came out from the back, who'd travelled down from Wales for the event and was arranging a turkey for a local punter. Barmaid got the initial photo with Martin. Great pub!
