After enjoying ourselves too much in all the previous places, we were living on borrowed time. Kenzie had to run to Upney for the journey to Hertfordshire and the rest of us made a judgement call to spend our last hour in the Barking United Services Club. Tucked away on a quiet residential street, we had put all our eggs in one basket and would struggle to get back to Beks Zone or the Acorn for last orders if they didn't welcome us in.
Well the others would have to wait, as welcome us in, they did. A lady behind the bar with her teenage son for company served us and we discussed our favourite dishes from the Thatched House, the previous venue. Darts was going off in the other room with local gents and ladies enjoying the evening. We explored the venue which had many telltale signs of a fantastic community hub.
A fitting end to the night and a cursory message relevant for all who frequent their local socials. if you don't use the club today, it won't be here tomorrow.
