Everyone stop what you’re doing; quit your jobs, leave your partners, abandon your kids and get down to the Young Prince on Roman Road. This is the best. When signing in, we noted only one other name had signed in yesterday and were stunned as this place is incredible. While the landlord initially seemed subdued and possibly even aggravated by our presence, he soon warmed to us, serving shots of Wray and Nephews and packets of Snackrite. There were endless trinkets adorning all the walls and shelves and many a sign to remind the scruffs they needed to buy drinks when watching football. It really was magical, stepping into this place from a wet Bow village. Do all you can to visit with friends as it really is one to behold.

Gold 2020
Gold 2020 and Pub of the Decade, Young Prince on Roman Road. Barry said the award would get the tongues wagging in the local rival pubs. The incredibly well adorned Young Prince is like no other, small but perfect. The beer garden has also won awards in the past. Really really implore you all to visit. As soon as you enter you are transported into a different world.

Jumping off at Roman Road, we picked up the pace in anticipation of what lay ahead. As winner of the 2020 Gold Award and Pub of the Decade, The Young Prince holds a special place in Sessions lore and we were delighted to find Barry the landlord in fine form, still putting the ‘cant’ in cantankerous. If he was pleased to see us he didn’t give it away, but wasted no time in upselling Ed a Costco-sized packet of peanuts for £6 and steering orders towards the most-expensive spirits.
Jak took a punishment shot for losing an argument with Glendo, while several more shots (and arguments) followed as we sunk our teeth into an array of dubiously-sourced quiz questions. Does anybody truly know how many Travellers there are in the UK? In any case, it was time for a fond farewell to Barry as we made our way towards the canal.
