On the way back to Dollis Hill Station we got excited and thought to try our luck at the Working Men’s. The Legionnaires club next door was well and truly closed, but Willesden’s Working Men’s Club was alive. Its ornate with wooden boards which I think had old members names etched in gold. We were sauced beyond comphrension at this point, spent £8 on pub scratchcards with nil return. The bartender was happy to serve us one even though it was generally members only. Great crowd getting on with their nights and welcoming some new faces. Its an enormous place too. Concluding thoughts on Willesden Green, it’s unusual for so many local irish boozers and clubs to be in such a close vicinity yet all be doing well and keeping to their roots. Nowhere looked on its arse financially and I’d be suprised to see any of these go under in the short term. If you want an Irish pub crawl North West London is the place to do it.
