Third was the Wandle Arms. Labrador guarding the entrance and full of the most friendly locals. Very chatty lot. When we enquired about the Pitlake Arms they said “Ask Terry hes the landlord!” Terry was sat at the bar and explained it’d been closed for near 8 years as the council revoked his licence after there were two fights there. He was a boxing coach in his previous life and still lived above the pub and kept it in good shape. Hes had offers to buy it, highest being £500,000 which is “what a flat half the size is going for now” so has rejected them all so far. He was 75 and going strong so hopefully one day we’ll get to see the inside. They had darts in the back which Conway won. Think we might see this one again.
