Ding dong the boys are in Hendon!
Most famously known as the home of the Saracen’s egg chasing team and the RAF Museum (where Jak once chatted up Katherine Ryan in the kids’ playground), we were buzzing to see what else this part of London had to offer.
A 15-minute walk from Hendon Central (with a quick pit stop in the local Transylvanian Bakery for some pastries), we started our journey at The Greyhound. This place is steeped in history – it was first licensed as a pub in 1675…but burnt down a year later. Terrible start. However, it was the rebuilt (with the correct fire safety standards in place) and has been going ever since – it also functioned as a parish meeting place as per the big blue circular sign on its frontage.
After some top chat with the barman who offered me a free Guinness with a £5.50 glass of water, we settled down and caught up on what had happened since last month. Kids birthday parties, sleep training, overseas business trips. What had we become? Where had the carefree days of youth gone? After a small group-wide existential crisis, we all downed our drinks. Onwards!
