Back to where it all began. 23rd March 2016 we sat in The Great Northern Railway Tavern in Hornsey on our first evening of Pub Sessions. Originally pitched as a mature way to socialise, explore new areas and have a sensible number of drinks and food with friends, it quickly descended into unbridled drinking and childish stupidity. Here we are 8 years on with enough children between us to form a small militia, we really should knock this on the head, but something about the sweet bosom of a pub and a delicious pint of amber nectar with pals cannot be topped.
What better way to celebrate the 1.7% cut in draft beer duty than to go back to our genesis.
The pub is now owned by Fullers and no longer has tankards to Jamie and an older gent at the bars dismay though the beer selection was great and bar staff very friendly.
We utilised the free iron defiency test kits being handed out at Moorgate station for our first shot competition. Conway and Ed both firmly iron deficient.
Interesting fact, a male needs to drink 29 pints of Guiness a day to get their daily recommended intake of Iron.
#141 of 408 all-time · #19 of 42 in 2024. The black tick on each bar is the all-time average.
