O'Briens

Do you remember when it was hot? Mid July 2024? Euros over, reliable sense of disappointment from every person you encountered in the pub? Perfect.

This was us in West Ealing. Disappointed that we didn't post this collection of an incredible sessions at the time, as I won't be able to do it justice as I sit listening to fireworks (grow up*) reign down from every other garden in early November, but let me try.

Jamie and Herring are walking down Uxbridge Road with a bag of Iranian apples purchased from a local supermarket. The Black George is closed, which is terribly upsetting considering the frontage, as it looks like some really life changing things had probably happened in there, for the better and worse.

Nevertheless, we forged on and enter O'Briens, immediately overwhelmed by the brilliance of this one room boozer. Its beautiful.

Niko an australian friend of sessions is in the garden with Joe drinking a Guiness. The rest of the group arrive and we all agree the iranian apples were horrible.

The pub however was phenomenal, unbelievably perfect Guiness at a price point which would make even the thriftiest of northerners blush. Full of Guiness trinkets, plachards and memrobilia with lovely window seats at the front to watch the world go by.

Before we leave, the first shot game begins, derived by our aussie guest. We each open a packet of aussie rules football cards and play top trumps, someone loses and I assume did some sort of forfeit.

We sounded our thank yous and goodbyes and moved on though hope to see this beauty again.
